Boston’s own “Parade of Lights” Maiden
Voyage Click the report by Liz Walker and WBZ TV.
Year one went on without a hitch! We wouldn’t even let hurricane “Hanna” stand our way of having a great time!!! We had perfect, beautiful weather and what a spectacular time it was!!! The Boston Parade of Lights is pleased to announce that we successfully rose over $4,500.00 for the Jimmy Fund in our 1st year!!! A Huge Thank You to all the boaters that decorated their boats and helped us put on such a beautiful show!!! There was so much creativity and we could really tell that you had a lot of fun in the process. The parade was fully covered by WBZ-TV channel 4 News and Northeast Boating Magazine!!! Thank you again to our Sponsors and volunteers for helping make this all possible. ![]() Our judges had a really hard time picking the “Best Dressed Sailboat” and “Best Dressed Powerboat” because of the immense creativity and thought that went into these decorations. We wished we were able give out more awards this year; there were so many beautiful boats. But after a lot of thought and consideration the judges chose “Lynch Mob” as “Best Dressed Powerboat” and they chose “Lyra” as “Best Dressed Sailboat”!!! Congratulations to them both, they were awarded with a Westmarine gift certificate and dinner & dancing for two upon the Starship Yachts. We were very impressed with everyone’s decorations and we look forward to seeing you all again next year with even more awards and gifts to give out!!! On a personal note, the day of the parade we received a phone call saying earlier that morning a dear friend of ours lost her battle with cancer. She was so special to us and very dear to our heart. In loving memory we are dedicating this parade to her.
